USA Volleyball High Performance is hosting a tryout on Friday, March 20th, at 1 Pier Ave Hermosa Beach, CA (Hermosa Beach Pier – North Side) from 2:30 pm until 6:30 pm and on March 27th at 400 Beach Street in Santa Cruz, CA from 4 pm until 7:30 pm.
The High Performance National Team “Pipeline” is for volleyball athletes who aspire to reach the elite level of their sport and is intended to grow the pool of talented young players who may someday compete for a spot on the U.S. National and Olympic Teams. As a club director, USA Volleyball would like your help. See below for how this can be a great opportunity for you, your coaches, and your athletes who are in the area or attending this tournament.
As a Club Director:
Some clubs list participation with USA Volleyball High Performance on their coach bios and use them as differentiators to help parents and players make decisions about which clubs to join. Athletes and coaches that participate in High Performance camps are often highlighted in social media, local news outlets, and club websites. We have resources we can provide you by request to help promote your club’s Olympic hopefuls and connection to USA Volleyball High Performance.
For Coaches:
Please pass this information along to your talented coaches and encourage them to volunteer. Volunteering at a USA Volleyball High Performance National Tryout is a great way to get involved in the USA Pipeline of athletes and coaches. High Performance coaches gain insight into National Team systems as they are trained to evaluate top talent on a nation-wide scale. Because High Performance coaches come from diverse backgrounds, to include coaching and playing at the collegiate, international, and National Team levels, tryouts also serve as a great opportunity for coaches to network and learn from one another. Furthermore, coaches who have CAP certification, can earn one re-certification credit (per year) from volunteering at a tryout.
For Athletes:
Attending a USA Volleyball High Performance National Tryout gives athletes the opportunity to represent USA and work to earn a position at a summer training program and / or the Youth and Junior National Teams. After a one-hour check in window, tryouts are 2.5-3 hour events in which athletes complete physical testing and positional evaluations. Athletes are evaluated within a game-focused environment designed by Senior National Team staff. All tryout participants receive a numbered USA Volleyball shirt. Athletes can find steps on how to register on our website: https://www.teamusa.org/usa-volleyball/high-performance/beach/tryouts
