New SBVBC Owners 8-10-2011
August 10, 2011
Seal Beach Volleyball Club players and parents,
After founding and directing Seal Beach Volleyball Club for 20 years, I am announcing my retirement from the day-to-day operations involved with owning and managing the club. I have loved every minute of it, especially the many friendships that have developed over the years, but there does come a time when retirement starts to sound more and more attractive. Three of our key long-time age group directors (Rick Evans, Maria Fattal, and Tony Rodriguez) will take over the ownership reins of our club. The selection of these three very talented coaches/administrators will assure a smooth transition as we move forward. They are already hard at work on preparations for the upcoming 2011-2012 club season and will have a series of announcements very shortly regarding clinics and tryouts.
I will still be involved in Seal Beach Volleyball Club as a consultant for the next two years to ensure that the organizational lessons that we have learned in the past 20 years of our club will continue to be available for our new owners. Our club is certainly a survivor in the world of youth sports, as many other clubs have come and gone in those 20 years. That wealth of experience definitely provides us with a valuable historical baseline for our three new owners as they put together their operating plan for the upcoming years. I have the greatest confidence that Rick, Maria, and Tony are the exact right people to lead Seal Beach Volleyball Club into the future.
Best regards,
Bob OBrien
